One of the best ways to have a great time in
There is to respect the people around you! The way you approach people in
There will determine if they lend you their prized buggy or teleport away
without you. Keep these things in mind while exploring There:
** Never interrupt a class at the
** As a Basic member, you can only borrow vehicles and be given
documents (usually with links or information.) Please don't beg for
things! You can't be given them anyway. When you become a Premium
member, you can be given things, but still...don't beg! No one will give
you anything, and you could find yourself ignored or banned from events and
lots. Also, Basic Members...please do not ask people to by you a premium
account. They won't and you'll end up on ignore or banned.
** Don't run people over just for fun unless they say it's okay! No, we
can't be hurt, but it's really rude for someone to run people over while
they're just standing around chatting. There are actually events for this
so check Activities!
** There really aren't a lot of rules, so just RESPECT others and you receive
RESPECT (and help) in return!

Please take
a moment to read some of the FIRST STEPS tips.
Most of what you'll
want to do can be done through your toolbar, and the tutorial with Aral
explains a lot of that. Here, I just want to point out some of the first things you'll want to do.
Don't be a
target! Protect yourself against unsolicited paintball attacks! You
can't be hurt in There, but getting paintballed (or run over by a buggy) is
very annoying when you're doing something! Use your toolbar to enable
your forcefield.
There > Customize >
World > Forcefield.
Avoid the "chat
suck!" When you approach another avatar and begin to type, you could
be sucked into a very tight "chat group" with that person. If you
haven't brushed your teeth yet, you might want to avoid this uncomfortable
situation. Use your toolbar to disable "Auto-Join Chat Groups."
There > Customize >
World > Auto-Join Chat Groups
There are many
different types of vehicles in There. We have hoverpacks, hoverbikes,
hoverboats, hoverboards, buggies, and bacios. These are items we can lend
to Basic members, but remember two things:
1. Use the "Put Away" option when you get off the vehicle so
someone doesn't grab it from you.
2. Do not run someone over with a vehicle unless you ask permission or it
is part of the event. It's especially rude to run someone over
with the buggy they just lent you!
Pump up or down the volume! If you don't like the music
you hear, and you can see the jukebox, loudspeaker, or radio, you can click the
action arrow on it to mute it. If you don't see the source, use your
toolbar to lower the volume.
There > Customize >
World > Volume
A small, orange box will appear and allow you to increase or decrease the
volume of music or environmental sounds. Once you become a Premium
Member, you can use this box to adjust voice chat volumes.

Remember that if
someone is giving you “grief” in There, you can send chat logs and screenshots
in an email to abuse@there.com. Other questions can be answered through an
email to help@there.com.

HOW DO I GET
THEREBUX?
Other than buying your
Tbux from There or Tbux.com or another member, you can earn Tbux by becoming a
designer or builder. This, however, does require some money to submit
your item and list it in auctions. If you're just looking for a few Tbux
to try some things out, I'd suggest you buy them. If you are planning to
stick around in There, and don't want to max out the credit card, try your hand
at designing! All the information you need is in the Developers' section
linked from ThereCentral. You can learn even more from other members,
especially in classes held at the

What's
going on? - If you'd like to
find out what activities are happening in There, look in your toolbar!
Activities > Happening
Now
You're Invited! - If you
have been invited to an event while you were offline, you can check these from
your toolbar when you log in. This gives you a list of what you've signed
up for or haven't yet.

What's with the glasses?
- If you don't like your "afk goggles" on, use your toolbar to remove
them.
There > Customize >
World > Show when I'm busy (uncheck)
Should I keep my profile private?
- There is no personal information on a profile, unless you put it there.
None of the information you give There is viewable on your profile. A
profile is a GREAT way to let others know what you're into! Fill yours
out and keep it public! It's a great way to meet people!
